How to Connect Outbrain and Taboola to Looker Studio

To connect Outbrain to Looker Studio, or Taboola, you need a route Google does not provide: neither network has a connector built by Google. Four routes work: scheduled CSV exports, each network's API, a third-party connector, or a BigQuery warehouse with Looker Studio on top. The right one depends on how often the dashboard must refresh and who maintains it.
Quick answer: Google offers no built-in Outbrain or Taboola connector for Looker Studio, now renamed Data Studio. For a weekly report, upload scheduled CSV exports. For a daily dashboard, use a third-party partner connector. For blended analysis with other channels, load both networks into BigQuery through a warehouse connector or the APIs, then connect Looker Studio to BigQuery.
If you are still choosing between the two networks, read our Taboola vs Outbrain comparison first. For the wider decision between a BI stack and a packaged tool, see our guide to cross-channel analytics approaches. Every platform fact below comes from Google's, Outbrain's and Taboola's own documentation, opened on 29 October 2026.
Looker Studio is now Data Studio
Google renamed its free dashboard tool in April 2026, which matters because newer help pages and connector listings now use the old name again. On 11 April 2026, Google's Cloud blog announced it was "reintroducing a beloved and familiar name, Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio)", and said existing reports and data sources move over "with no action on your part".
Everything in this guide applies to both names. Search for either when you look for connectors.

Is there a native Outbrain or Taboola connector?
No connector built by Google covers Outbrain or Taboola, so every route to Looker Studio passes through a file, an API or a vendor. Google's own connectors include BigQuery, Google Sheets and file upload, and its BigQuery Data Transfer Service lists marketing sources such as Google Ads and Facebook Ads, but neither Outbrain nor Taboola.
That leaves four routes:
| Route | Refresh | Effort | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scheduled CSV export | Daily at best, manual upload | Low, but repetitive | Weekly or monthly reports |
| Network API plus your own script | As often as rate limits allow | High: code and upkeep | Teams with a developer |
| Third-party partner connector | Set by the vendor | Low | Daily dashboards, few sources |
| BigQuery warehouse | Set by your pipeline | Medium to high | Blended analysis across channels |
Route 1: export CSV files from Amplify and Realize
CSV exports are the quickest way to connect Outbrain to Looker Studio, and they need no developer, but the refresh is manual and the file structure has to stay fixed.
Outbrain. The Amplify performance reporting page lets you export data from the top of the dashboard and schedule reports by email to up to 10 recipients. Breakdowns include campaign, content, time, publisher, section, geo and device. Note that multi-dimension breakdowns, such as campaign by date, are available only on scheduled reports.
Taboola. Realize's report scheduling sends reports daily, weekly or monthly to up to 10 recipients, and "currently we only support CSV file type".
Into Looker Studio. Google's file upload connector has a "100MB file size limit per dataset" and 2GB of storage per user. Every file you add to a dataset "must have exactly the same structure, with the same fields in the same order". If you change the report columns in Amplify or Realize, you start a new dataset. Pasting the CSV into Google Sheets and using the Google Sheets connector avoids the upload limits and lets you append rows.
Route 2: use the Outbrain and Taboola APIs
The APIs give you full control over fields and refresh timing, at the cost of writing and maintaining code. Most teams send API data to Google Sheets or BigQuery and point Looker Studio at that.
Outbrain Amplify API. Outbrain's Amplify API page says the API "is available for a select number of partners by request". Once approved, you get a token that lasts 30 days and send it in the OB-TOKEN-V1 header. Rate limits are tight: "Each marketer is limited to 10 requests per minute for the entire performance reporting API." Pull daily totals in batches rather than many small calls.
Taboola Backstage API. Taboola's authentication basics tell you to generate a client_id and client_secret on the API Keys page, exchange them for an access token, and refresh it every 12 hours. The reporting overview lists three standard advertiser reports: Campaign Summary, Top Campaign Content and Campaign History. The Campaign Summary report takes a dimension, such as by day or by campaign, plus a date range.
A simple script on a daily schedule can append yesterday's rows for both networks to one sheet or one BigQuery table.
Route 3: use a third-party Outbrain Amplify connector
Partner connectors are the "outbrain amplify connector" most people are searching for: a vendor handles authentication and API changes, and the data appears in Looker Studio as a data source.
Vendors that document these connectors include Windsor.ai for Outbrain and for Taboola, and Coupler.io for Taboola, which also lists Google Sheets and BigQuery as destinations and an Outbrain Amplify source.
Before you pick one, check three things:
- Credentials. Outbrain's API is by request, so ask the vendor how they access your Amplify data and what you need to provide.
- Fields. Confirm the connector exposes conversions by conversion name, not only clicks and spend.
- Price per source. Most vendors charge per connected source or account, so two native networks plus your social and search sources add up.
Route 4: connect Outbrain Amplify to BigQuery
BigQuery is the right home when you want Outbrain and Taboola in the same table as Meta, Google and store orders, and want SQL control over how they blend.
Because BigQuery Data Transfer Service does not cover either network, you need a pipeline:
- Pick a loader. Fivetran's Outbrain connector uses Outbrain API v0.1 and syncs campaign, budget and reporting tables, and its Taboola connector uses Taboola API v1.0. Airbyte's Outbrain Amplify source documents 17 streams and needs an access token or a username and password. Your own API script is the third option.
- Model the data. Build one daily view per network with the same columns: date, campaign, spend, clicks, impressions, conversions, revenue. Name conversions the same way on both networks.
- Connect Looker Studio. Google's BigQuery connector reads a table, a view or a custom SQL query. Query costs are billed to the project you choose, so point dashboards at small daily views, not raw tables.
Why the numbers will not match Amplify or Realize exactly
Small differences between a Looker Studio dashboard and the native dashboards are normal, and knowing the causes saves hours of checking each morning.
- Delay. Outbrain says spend and conversion data are "subject to a 2-4 hour reporting delay". A pull at 9am misses recent activity.
- Time zones. Daily budgets on Amplify reset at midnight Eastern time; set your pipeline to the same zone or label it clearly.
- Attribution. Each network credits conversions inside its own window, so native results will add up to more than your store orders.
- Cost metrics. Outbrain reports eCPM; align it with other networks' CPM before blending.

Where Wevion fits
Many teams build a Looker Studio report for native only because Taboola and Outbrain never sit in the same place as their social and search spend. Wevion approaches that problem from the other side.
Wevion connects Taboola through client credentials and Outbrain through an access token, next to Meta, Google, TikTok and Snapchat, syncs data about every 15 minutes and maps Outbrain's eCPM to CPM, so all six platforms sit in one cross-channel view without a pipeline.
To be clear about the limits: Wevion has no Looker Studio connector. In cross-channel analytics you can download the active view's daily data as CSV or Excel, one row per day, and upload that file to Looker Studio if your stakeholders live there. The Wevion MCP server and CLI also expose campaigns, ad accounts and insights for your own tools. Wavo, the AI copilot, can answer questions on the same data inside Wevion. For when a single reporting layer beats a dashboard stack, see our piece on a single source of truth for multi-platform reporting.
Key takeaways
- Google offers no built-in Outbrain or Taboola connector for Looker Studio, now called Data Studio
