TikTok Ad Account Suspended? Reasons, Status Checks and Appeals

Seeing TikTok ad account suspended in Ads Manager is alarming, especially when the account carries a client's whole budget or your best-performing campaigns. Every ad stops, most settings lock, and the notice rarely explains enough. The fear is reasonable. What helps now is knowing the official reasons, where to check the real status and how to file one clean appeal inside TikTok's window.
Quick answer: Open Account Health in TikTok Ads Manager to see the suspension details. For a first violation, TikTok gives you 30 days to fix the issues or appeal; after that, the suspension becomes permanent. Fix the flagged ads or landing pages, submit one appeal from Account Health, and do not create new ad accounts while it is reviewed.
Before you write anything, gather your evidence. Our checklist of what evidence to gather when an ad account is banned applies to TikTok as much as to Meta.
Why does TikTok suspend ad accounts?
TikTok reviews both individual ads and overall account behaviour, and its help page on suspended ad accounts lists the common reasons an account crosses the line:
- Reports or complaints about the account from TikTok users or other channels.
- Problems with ad content, or with the qualifications or services the ads promote.
- Changing an ad's landing page after the campaign was created.
- Suspected malicious behaviour or intent during ad creation.
- Violations of the TikTok Advertising Guidelines or other standards.
Suspensions often follow a decline in account health. TikTok says an account in poor health is suspended, but that some issues lead to an immediate suspension when the violation is severe. The landing page point is easy to miss: swapping a URL on a live ad, even to a near-identical page, is listed as a suspension reason in its own right.

How do you check your TikTok ad account status?
TikTok Ads Manager has a dedicated Account Health page that shows the current status, open issues and enforcement actions, and checking it is the first thing to do. According to TikTok's guide to ad account health, you reach it through Tools, then Account setup, then Account Health.
| Status | What TikTok says it means |
|---|---|
| Good | The account complies with TikTok's advertising policies |
| Attention needed | Changes are needed to meet the advertising policies |
| Restricted | Some features are limited after repeated violations |
| Poor | The account is suspended and can no longer run ads |
The status updates daily. One detail matters for diagnosis: if an account moves straight from Good to Poor without passing through the other levels, TikTok says there may be outstanding payment issues or other risks on the account. Check billing before you assume the problem is your creative. If you run Meta too, the same logic applies there, as our guide to a Meta ads payment that failed explains.
What a TikTok suspension changes on your account
A suspended TikTok ad account stops every ad at once, and TikTok's documentation is specific about what else changes while the suspension lasts:
- All ads under the account stop, and return to their original status once the suspension is lifted.
- Some features are unavailable, including transferring and accessing pixels.
- Admins and Operators can only change the delivery status of campaigns, ad groups and ads; other settings are locked.
- Agency accounts that are suspended cannot create new ad accounts or add money to ad accounts.
- Refunds for suspended accounts follow a separate process.
Temporary versus permanent. For a first violation, TikTok gives you 30 days to fix the issues or submit an appeal. If the issues remain or the appeal is rejected after 30 days, the suspension becomes permanent, and permanent suspensions cannot be appealed. An older troubleshooting article mentions a 180-day limit on appeals. Treat 30 days as your real deadline.
How to appeal a TikTok ad account suspension, step by step
TikTok routes ad policy appeals through the Account Health page, and its guide on how to submit an account appeal sets out the flow:
- Fix the cause first. Edit or remove the flagged ads, restore the original landing pages and resolve any payment issue. An appeal for an unchanged account has little to stand on.
- Open Account Health. Suspension banners and pop-ups in Ads Manager link there.
- Click Submit Appeal in the Suspension Details section.
- Complete the form and attach supporting documents. Explain briefly what was flagged, what you changed and why the account should be reinstated.
- Track the appeal. The status changes to Under Review, and View Appeal Details shows the history.
- Answer within 48 hours if asked. If the status changes to More Information Required, you have 48 hours to reply in the Appeal Details drawer.
The outcome appears as Appeal Approved or Appeal Not Approved. A TikTok sales representative can also submit an appeal on your behalf if you work with one.
TikTok's systems act at very large scale. In its August 2026 Digital Services Act report, TikTok said it removed around 104 million pieces of violating content in the EU between January and June 2026, ads included, with 94.1% actioned by automated systems without human review. Automated decisions at that volume are why the appeal route exists, and why a clear, documented appeal is worth the effort.
What should you never do after a TikTok suspension?
Panic leads to the moves that make a temporary suspension permanent, so knowing what to avoid matters as much as the appeal itself:
- Do not create new ad accounts while the appeal is reviewed. TikTok's troubleshooting guidance says so directly.
- Do not file several appeals for the same issue. TikTok asks for one appeal per incident and blocks duplicates.
- Do not change landing pages on live ads to test what passes review.
- Do not hide who you are. New identities, borrowed accounts or anti-detect setups used to get around enforcement are evasion, and they put every connected asset at risk.
- Do not pay anyone who promises reinstatement. The appeal is free, and only TikTok decides the outcome.
If you manage several client accounts, write this list into your agency playbook before you need it. The same principles appear in our Meta ad account disabled guide, because evasion is treated harshly on every platform.
Reducing the risk once you are back
Getting reinstated is a chance to remove the risks you control, starting with your ads and ending with how your tools connect to the account. Review every live ad against the TikTok Advertising Guidelines, lock landing page URLs once a campaign is live, and keep payment details current so billing never drags account health down. A tidy TikTok campaign structure also makes flagged ads easier to find and fix.
Then look at your tooling. Anything that logs in with your password or drives Ads Manager through a browser is a connection you cannot fully audit.
Wevion connects TikTok, Meta, Google, Taboola, Snapchat and Outbrain ad accounts through each platform's official API with OAuth, so it never stores your password or drives a browser session, and it syncs data about every 15 minutes into one dashboard where you can watch spend and delivery across every account.
That is a safer way to connect, not a shield. No tool can stop TikTok from suspending an account that breaks its policies, and Wevion makes no such promise. Rules can watch spend and pause campaigns or just send you an alert, which our TikTok automated rules guide covers in more depth.
Key takeaways
A TikTok ad account suspension is serious but often recoverable if you act inside the window and stay on the official path.
- Check Account Health first; Poor means suspended, and a jump from Good to Poor can signal payment issues.
- For a first violation, you have 30 days to fix the issues or appeal before the suspension becomes permanent.
- Fix the cause, then file one appeal from Account Health with supporting documents, and reply within 48 hours if asked.
- Never open new ad accounts during review, file duplicate appeals or use evasion tactics.
- Connect tools through official APIs with OAuth, and keep landing pages and billing stable.
